Coronavirus Covid-19 Research History – April 6 to April 10, 2022

2022-04-10 Your Next COVID Vaccine Will Be Different After deploying four COVID-19 shots in a little more than two years, the nation is absorbing a troubling realization: That’s a pace that’s impossible to sustain. This past week, experts began charting a path to a future that is less perfect – but more practical. It means building a vaccine that targets more than one strain of the virus. It would reduce severe disease and death, but not prevent every infection. If the design is changed, all vaccines will be updated. Manufacturers will likely offer the same vaccine formulation to everyone, rather than a mélange of different products for different people on different schedules. And the goal is to have it ready by next fall when the risk of illness is likely to soar. That’s a very tight deadline. “If we settle down to one shot per year that combines COVID and flu, I think that will be sustainable,” said UC San Francisco infectious disease expert Dr. Peter Chin-Hong. “Nobody will want to get a vaccine every six months,” he said. “So we have to change the strategy.”

2022-04-10 A 7-Foot-Tall Robot at Dallas Love Field Is Watching for Unmasked Travelers and Curbside Loiterers Yes, those 7-foot-tall machines at Dallas Love Field are watching you. They want to make sure you’re wearing a mask if you’re boarding a flight or not parking too long at the curb if you’re picking up a returning traveler. Love Field is testing two Security Control Observation Towers at the airport, one near baggage claim and another near security checkpoints, to figure out whether robotic assistants can both help customers get around and warn passengers who are breaking rules. The robots can also call airport security and operations in case more help is needed. Airports have been at the forefront of technology, including facial recognition and other biometrics, for years, a trend that worries privacy advocates who say there are few, if any, laws or guidelines about how emerging technology should be used. Amazon took criticism in 2019 after testing its Rekognition technology with police departments before deciding to ban law enforcement from using it two years later.

2022-04-08 Cardiac Disorders Account for 20% of 1.2 Million Injuries Reported After COVID Vaccines, VAERS Data Show VAERS data released Friday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention included a total of 1,217,333 reports of adverse events from all age groups following COVID vaccines, including 26,699 deaths and 217,301 serious injuries between Dec. 14, 2020, and April 1, 2022.

2022-04-08 FDA advisors call for an end to never-ending booster shots as they try to map out a strategy for living with COVID On Wednesday, an independent advisory committee to the US Food and Drug Administration — the agency entrusted with ensuring the country’s COVID-19 vaccine supply is not only safe but also useful and well-updated — met to discuss the future of COVID-19 vaccines and boosters. Dr. Peter Marks, who directs the Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research (the arm of the FDA that is in charge of regulating all vaccines) acknowledged the current COVID vaccine strategy of boost-every-few-months with the original vaccine recipe — based on virus sequenced from Wuhan, China in early 2020 —  is not sustainable. Already, successful COVID-19 vaccine makers including Moderna and Pfizer are charting their next moves against the virus, without any direction from the federal government. A more cohesive national strategy for new vaccines is needed, the FDA committee members said. Tailoring vaccines too tightly to circulating variants, which change over the course of weeks and months, is a futile strategy that will lead vaccine makers to “miss the boat,” committee member Dr. Michael Nelson, chief of the asthma, allergy and immunology division at UVA Health, said.

2022-04-08 U.S. Firm With Ties to WEF, DOD Implicated in Bioweapons Cover-Up As evidence of a potential bioweapons cover-up begins to emerge, a company called Metabiota, whose founder is a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader graduate, is gaining prominence.

2022-04-08 ‘Get Used to It’: Outbreaks Give Taste of Living With Virus The U.S. is getting a first glimpse of what it’s like to experience COVID-19 outbreaks during this new phase of living with the virus, and the roster of the newly infected is studded with stars. Cabinet members, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Broadway actors and the governors of New Jersey and Connecticut have all tested positive. Outbreaks at Georgetown University and Johns Hopkins University are bringing back mask requirements to those campuses as officials seek out quarantine space. Ali Mokdad, a professor of health metrics sciences at the University of Washington in Seattle, expects the high level of U.S. immunity built up from previous infections and vaccinations will protect the nation from a large surge. “We’re going to have some infections here and there, but it’s not going to shut down the country,” Mokdad said. “Life has to go on. We have to be vaccinated and boosted. We need to protect the vulnerable, but we have to get used to it.”

2022-04-08 COVID-cautious freak out at CNN medical analyst for urging large events to ‘still go on’ CNN Medical Analyst Dr. Leana Wen said Thursday in a Washington Post column and corresponding Twitter thread that “our new normal” regarding COVID-19 should involve allowing individuals to assess their “own risks” and no longer canceling potential “superspreader” events. Prominent Twitter users, including doctors and liberal journalists, accused Wen of “dangerous,” “repulsive” messaging that is “killing” people in response. The controversy started with her article commenting on the recent Washington, DC, Gridiron Club dinner which led to an outbreak of COVID among D.C. politicians. Rather than admonish people who would dare attend large events like these during a pandemic, Wen, formerly the head of Planned Parenthood, explained that we’ve come to a “new normal” in which people should “be thoughtful about their own risks” and be allowed to make their own decisions. She concluded her Twitter posts, stating, “accepting that #COVID19 infections will be part of our lives doesn’t mean that we are giving up. Rather, it means acknowledging that we finally have the tools to live with it, and that people will make different choices from our own.”

2022-04-08 Moderna Recalls Thousands of COVID Vaccine Doses in Europe Moderna Inc. (MRNA.O) said on Friday it was recalling 764,900 doses of its COVID-19 vaccine made by its contract manufacturer Rovi (ROVI.MC) after a vial was found contaminated by a foreign body. No safety issues have been identified, Moderna said about the lots that were distributed in Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain and Sweden in January. The drugmaker said the contamination was found in just one vial, and it was recalling the whole lot out of “an abundance of caution”. It did not disclose what was found in the vial. Japanese authorities last year suspended the use of some doses of the vaccine, which Moderna later recalled after an investigation found stainless steel contaminants in some vials.

2022-04-08 Greek Healthcare Workers Launch Hunger Strike: ‘We Don’t Need a Vaccine Passport to Be Free’ As a hunger strike protesting Greece’s COVID-19 vaccine mandates for healthcare workers entered its 17th day, one suspended healthcare worker yesterday told a crowd of protesters in Athens, “we don’t need vaccine passports to be free.”

2022-04-08 Court Reinstates Vaccine Mandate for Federal Workers, But White House Delays Enforcement A federal court on Thursday upheld the Biden administration’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate for federal employees, but the White House told federal agencies “procedural steps” need to take place before the mandates can be enforced.

2022-04-07 FDA Vaccine Advisors Discuss Waning Efficacy of Boosters, Ignore Pleas by Vaccine-Injured Wednesday’s nine-and-a-half-hour meeting of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s vaccine advisory committee was riddled with technical issues and punctuated by a sobering 60-minute long public hearing, as committee members sought, but failed to answer basic questions.

2022-04-07 NJ Gym Owners Who Defied COVID Lockdowns Have Their Business License Restored The owners of Atilis Gym in Bellmawr, New Jersey, had their business licenses restored, nearly two years after they made nationwide headlines for defying New Jersey’s COVID lockdowns. Atilis co-owner Ian Smith and co-owner Frank Trumbetti kept Atilis open to the public for the past two years, despite the revoked license, operating off of donations and merchandise sales. Smith claimed that as a result of not complying with lockdown orders, he and Trumbetti received more than 90 citations, along with ten gym members who received citations; 9 criminal charges; that both he and Trumbetti were arrested, as well as one member; that local police changed the locks on the building, backed up their plumbing, and eventually boarded up the gym; that they were fined $15,497.76 every day they remained open, for 5 months; that $173,000 in fundraising for their legal defense was seized by the state; and that they owe more than $300,000 in legal bills.

2022-04-07 Washington Elite Faced With a Growing Resurgence of COVID Infections On Thursday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi became the latest high-profile Washington dignitary to test positive for COVID-19. Pelosi, 82, is currently asymptomatic, according to a spokesperson for her office. “The Speaker is fully vaccinated and boosted, and is thankful for the robust protection the vaccine has provided,” the spokesperson said Thursday. She said Pelosi received her second booster shot last month. Pelosi’s positive test comes amid a flurry of other positive cases among individuals who attended the elite Gridiron Club Dinner in Washington on Saturday. As of midday Thursday, at least 32 guests at Saturday’s dinner have tested positive for COVID-19, Tom DeFrank, the president of the Gridiron Club, told ABC News

2022-04-07 Joe Rogan Blows up on People Who Call for Censorship on Social Media Joe Rogan said nothing drives him more crazy than people who are calling for censorship on social media, arguing that when people insist on removing thoughts they disagreed with that’s “not discourse, that’s propaganda.” During “The Joe Rogan Experience” podcast Tuesday, the host spoke with playwright and filmmaker David Mamet, and the two talked about what can be done to stop censorship on sites like TwitterFacebook and YouTube. The two also discussed how people calling for censoring of things they disagree with are pushing toward an “authoritarian dictatorship.” It starts at the 44:24-minute mark of the show here. The host and Mamet talked about how people celebrated “certain people” getting removed from Twitter — like Alex Jones and Milo Yiannopoulos. Rogan said that even back then he had warned people where this kind of thing would lead. “Do you understand that once they start censoring for what they believe is something that’s objectionable … it’s going to keep going further and further,” Rogan shared. “And they are going to keep moving the goal post.”

2022-04-07 Hospital Refuses Father-to-Son Kidney Transplant Over COVID Jab A 9-year-old boy is being denied a life-saving kidney transplant because his father is not vaccinated against COVID-19. Dane Donaldson was found to be a perfect match for his son Tanner back in early 2018 by the Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital before the outbreak of the pandemic. The family decided to wait a little longer before having Tanner undergo the transplant since transplanted kidneys from a live donor only lasted about 20 years. Then COVID-19 hit and put a freeze on the procedure. Now the hospital is refusing to perform the life-saving father-to-son kidney transplant it agreed to do nearly four years ago over the senior Donaldson’s unvaccinated status. In a statement released to The Epoch Times, the Cleveland Clinic cited a 2021 policy it adopted requiring all donors and candidates for organ transplants to be fully vaccinated against the virus.

2022-04-06 Numerous Health Problems More Likely Because of COVID Vaccines Than Coincidence: VAERS Data Analysis Various health problems reported by people after receiving one of the COVID-19 vaccine shots are more likely to have been caused by the vaccines than to be coincidental, according to an analysis of data from the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS). VAERS has been flooded with more than 1 million reports of various health problems and more than 21,000 death reports since the introduction of the vaccines in late 2020. Some experts and public officials have downplayed the significance of the reports, noting that just because a health problem occurs after getting the vaccine doesn’t mean the problem was caused by it. However, a deeper analysis of the data indicates that many of the adverse effects are more than just a coincidence, according to Jessica Rose, a computational biologist who’s been studying the data for at least nine months. “The safety signals being thrown off in VAERS now are off the charts across the board,” Rose told The Epoch Times.
